School timetable and teacher substitution

Build each class’s timetable once, period by period, and every teacher’s own timetable follows from it. Students see today’s periods on their app dashboard; teachers see where they need to be next.

When a teacher is absent, the office assigns cover for each of their periods. The substitute sees the extra period in their app, so nobody has to run around the staff room with a printed sheet.

What you can do with Timetable

Timetables

  • Period-wise class timetables with subject, teacher and room
  • Teacher timetables generated from the class timetables
  • Assign class teachers to each class and section
  • Subjects and subject groups per class

Teacher substitution

  • Teachers marked absent, on half day or on approved leave show up for cover
  • Assign a substitute teacher for each period that needs cover
  • Substitutes see the periods they are covering in the teacher app
  • The record keeps its own copy of class, subject and time, even if the timetable changes later

In the app

  • Students and parents see the day’s periods on the dashboard
  • A full weekly timetable with subject, teacher and room
  • Teachers see their own timetable, including substitutions

Does JCABS generate the timetable automatically?

You build the class timetables period by period; JCABS then produces each teacher’s timetable from them and handles substitutions when someone is away.

How does substitution work?

When a teacher is marked absent or has approved leave, their periods for that day are listed for cover. The office assigns a substitute for each period, and the substitute sees it in their app.
